Zach - Alias Little Bear

Tim shares a moments reflection on his little bear.

Zach will be 11 years old January 29 2006, soon after his Aunt Jenny turns 47! Ah, yes, and Julie too!

Wheatens are the best. When I was growing up I had a mental picture of the kind of dog I wanted some day. That dog did not "exist" to my knowledge. Then one day while living in NYC, eating at a cafe, I saw someone walk by the window with a Wheaten. I dropped my fork, ran on the street and accosted the poor pedestrian! They were happy to tell me all about their beloved Wheatie and the breed. The rest is history.

Originally, I was going to name Zach, Ollie, after Oliver Twist in the Dickens novel. Instead he became Zaccheus, named after the little man in the Bible, because he was the runt of the litter and because I liked the sound of it. Zach also has many (about 100) affectionate nicknames including, Scout, Scooter, Bullwinkle, Pooh Bear (Mom's name for him), Scooty Booty, Buster, and my favorite – Little Bear. Zach has been a real Godsend in my life and in the lives of most he encounters. A friend has a couch pillow that says "I want to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am". I would add to that, "I want to be the kind of person my dog is!"

Much success in you finding a friend for Finley and a name as well. Have an inspired New Year. Tim and Zach
